Who We Are:
We are a congregation of Christians who seek to find the will of God in our lives and to share God's love with those around us.
Our little church recently celebrated 135 years of ministry, but that doesn't stop us from growing and changing in any way God leads. Come and grow with us! You will always be welcome!
You Can Participate! We understand that not everyone can attend services here on Sunday morinings, but you can still be a part of our ministry: 1. You can pray with us and for us - God always answers prayer and we are always in need of God's loving guidance. 2. You can invite us to pray with you - You can share your own spiritual needs with pastor by using our on-line prayer request form. 3. You can participate financially - All of our web-based ministries are offered for free, but web access and computer resources are costly and they represent only a portion of our total community outreach. If you feel God calling you to participate with us, please send your tax-deductable donations to: Internet Donations 1st Presbyterian Church % Dennis L. A Bit About Our History
The 1st Presbyterian Church in Pleasanton, KS, was organized on October 8, 1869. In 1870, the first part of the building was completed. In 1887, additional improvements were made and in 1954, a basement was added and later, new stained glass windows.
On May 5, 1986, a fire destroyed the building and all its contents. With the help and contributions of many members and friends, a new brick structure was dedicated on March, 1988. The new church building was free of debt
In June, 1998, a merger took place between the remaining members of the Amoret Presbyterian Church, Amoret, Missouri, and the First Presbyterian Church, Pleasanton, Kansas. A plaque highlighting this event hangs in the sanctuary.
In the year 2000, a new organ and piano were obtained and a beautiful celtic cross was installed on the belfry. A multi-purpose building was also erected by the members of the church.
In view of the increasing membership and the new vitality the church is experiencing, we are looking forward to the years ahead with great anticipation as we continue to serve our Lord in this part of the Kingdom work.
